What’s up People!
Some quick thoughts for your week:

I started my life with a single absolute: that the world was mine to shape in the image of my highest values and never to be given up to a lesser standard, no matter how long or hard the struggle.”

Tis The Season of Love! (Mandela’s muses).
I find it fascinating how difficult and easy it is to truly love.
For those who share our values, our point of view, or other some commonalities, it can be very easy to love.
For those who are different, who possess some features; physical, philosophical or otherwise, loving them can be unbelievably difficult, even without them saying a single word to us in some .

Thanks to Valentine’s Day, this topic seems ideal to ponder. I think love can quite simply start from a decision. A decision to fight that seed of hatred that can very easily spring roots and begin to lear fruits in us.
This is going to be incredibly important exercise as we get closer to November (God help us). Choose love.
Yes! It happened!

Basic Bike Safety Check.
It’s looking like we will be having an early spring, especially if you listen to the Cumberland groundhog. We have had a few days in the 50s, and seen a few people out riding. If your bike has been sitting in the garage since last fall, these is a basic safety checks to perform before hopping on this spring:

The “ABC Quick Check” before heading out on a bike ride:

“A” for Air: Check your tire pressure using a gauge and inflate them to the recommended level. Look for any damage to the tires and replace them if needed.

“B” for Brakes: Test your brakes by squeezing the levers. Make sure they engage smoothly and the cables are not worn. If the wheel turns when you push the bike forward, get your brakes fixed before riding.

“C” for Chain: Ensure your chain is clean and lubricated for smooth operation. Spin the pedals to check for any wobbling or grinding noises from the bottom bracket. Also, ensure the derailleur is straight and clears the spokes.

Quick: Check the quick-release skewers on your wheels to ensure they are properly tightened.

Check: Take a quick test ride to ensure your derailleurs and brakes are working correctly. Inspect the bike for any broken or loose parts and tighten, replace, or fix them as needed.

Following these steps will help ensure a safe and enjoyable ride!

Clarity, Spring, and the First Ride of the Season

Clarity, Spring, and the First Ride of the Season

Suffering sharpens us — but navigating it is exhausting. As spring approaches, a single quote by James Clear cut through the noise: “When you need clarity, subtract.” This season, I’m leaning into that idea. Spring cleaning isn’t just for closets. Sometimes the best move is simply making room for what matters.
